Ron Hackworth Flies the "Wing" over the San Gabriel Mountains

This is one of four one-third scale development aircraft built as a test vehicle.  The information from these flights provided data for the B-35 and B-49 bomber development programs.  As a result of political influences, the program was cancelled and all the wings were ordered destroyed.  Fortunately this aircraft escaped destruction and was saved for the world by Ed Maloney.  It made its first restored flight in 1994 after 13 years of restoration.  Pilot Ron Hackworth headed the restoration team.
